A Day of Two Halves

The world of freelancing, and in particular the timing of workflow, can be peculiar at times. Last week was a case in point. I went from having no work from Monday to Friday (possibly as a result of the Easter break) to working a 13 hour day on the Saturday, split between two jobs which couldn't have been more different.

The first half of my Saturday involved a drive up to Percy Park RFC in North Shields to cover the England U19s rugby team competing against Scotland U19s. A warm spring day proved ideal conditions for me to shed the jacket, hat and gloves I'm accustomed to, and for the England team, who ran out comfortable winners.

A quick turnaround of images and clothing was necessary with just an hour to get down to Hartlepool for my second assignment, the Green and Blue Ball organised by The PFC Trust. Thanks to my wife Lucy, who chauffeured me between the two locations, I was able to send all of my images from the rugby match from the car, and don my tuxedo.

Black ties, ball gowns and glasses of fizz were a far cry from the club shirts, pints and pies of the sporting terraces, but both have equal merit in the varied landscape of my working world.
