It was lovely to be back at the Hippodrome Theatre in Darlington earlier this week to attend a Mini Mela event taking place there. The theatre is a wonderful building and since undergoing a multi-million pound refurb in 2016/17 looks even more splendid with improvements and extensions to its facilities.
With a fondness for the arts, it’s always nice to see an event that gets children involved, hopefully inspiring and encouraging them to be creative for years to come. Furthermore, the introduction of differing international cultures and practices is a great way for youngsters to understand and become more familiar with the idea of diversity.
Workshops on offer at the Mini Mela included drumming, both djembe and steel pan, and Indian dancing. Henna painting, origami, drawing and painting were other activities on offer at the event.
