It was nice to make a return to Liverpool last weekend. I was a student in this fine northern city around 30 years ago and it's no surprise that much has changed in that time while certain things remain the same.

It was always a vibrant place in which to undertake my degree course and with such a wealth of bars and clubs, is it any wonder that my studies suffered. Over the course of time, the drinking and eating establishments have evolved somewhat but the lively atmosphere is unaltered.

The Merseyside city which is so synonymous with football and music has an attractive and modern look to it too. Redevelopment of the docklands has taken place on a large scale and the addition of modern looking museums and galleries fit perfectly with the more established and iconic mercantile edifices know as the "Three graces" - Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building. The very recent addition of the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton's new home, shows this pattern is set to continue into the North of the city.

I look forward to my next visit to Liverpool to again witness the pace of change and development while struggling to recall how it looked during my happy years of living there.
