Army Training, Catterick Garrison

The most historic rivalry in cricket came to the Durham International Cricket Ground at Chester-le-Street for the first time. England eventually triumphed over Australia in 4 days and in the process won the test match series 3-1.

Lyndon's Leg Fit

Lyndon Longhorne of Crook in Co Durham lost both his legs, his right arm and the fingers on his left hand as a baby after suffering from meningitis. Attending a specialist clinic near Southampton, he was fitted with two prosthetic legs enabling him to walk for the first time.

Fortune's of Whitby

A magazine feature on the daily operation of the family-run smokehouse which has been in operation since 1872. Brothers Derek and Barry Brown carry out the whole process from gutting the herring to preparing the fires for the smoking process and finally selling the kippers in their shop.
