Action Stations
What an amazing few days of sporting action I've had the pleasure of covering with four different sports in three days! I love the unpredictability of this field of photography but it can be just as frustrating in equal measures.

I kicked off proceedings with a charity golf day last Friday - definitely a more sedate start to the plethora of activitiy. With eight teams to follow over the 18 hole course at Seaton Carew Golf Club, I was grateful for the aid of a buggy and driver (thank you @PaulFraserMedia) to transport myself and my heavy equipment around while capturing those taking part in action.
Over to Billingham Rugby Club later that day to capture three of Yarm School's rugby teams in action. A newly-laid artificial turf meant that I had to borrow a pair of studded boots to be allowed to enter the main pitch. The teams provided the entertainment in tightly fought contests against a school from the Isle of Man.
A drive over the Pennines on Saturday for coverage of Southend United's away fixture against Carlisle United. After a first half dominated by the home team, I thought my look was in when The Shrimpers scored a spectacular injury time goal. The subsequent celebration by the scorer and team mates came straight my way and the Southend fans went crazy. That wasn't the end of the match however, and four minutes later, Carlisle had equalised and the points were shared.
Finally, I headed up to South Shields on Sunday for the Great North Run. My association with this magnificent spectacle, be it taking part or taking photos, has continued for over 20 years. This time around I was commissioned by Barnardo's to capture their runners. Not an easy task trying to pick out 102 from 63,000 overall participants but with concentration and help from a vocal cheer team, I was able to get shots of many of the green-shirted charity fundraisers passing by.
A really memorable few days where the weather was kind, my eye to hand coordination was fully tested and some lovely moments were captured. As always a big thank you to all my clients for entrusting me to cover their events.
