An interesting 8 days in the job with things coming down, things staying the same and things coming up.
Last Friday another building of the former Redcar steelworks was sent tumbling to the ground by a controlled explosion - the Redcar coke ovens screen house. Rain and wind both proceeded and followed the demolition with a five minute window of dryness meaning I didn't leave the site looking like a drowned rat.
Much fairer conditions greeted Darlington Mowden Park on the Saturday as they secured their National League One status with a 25-20 victory over Esher RFC. The star man was Yaree Fantini who scored all three of Mowden's tries. Meanwhile club stalwarts Chris McTurk and Dave Fisher said goodbye to home fans after announcing their retirement from the game.
Coming up to the region earlier today was Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer, paying a visit to Middlesbrough College. It was an interesting assignment for me, getting re-acquainted with the media circus and battling for position to try and capture the political figure as he chatted with student nurses. And just like that, another week comes to an end.
