It proved a shrewd decision to postpone the Saltburn Ice Trail by a week - the rain and high winds of storm Darragh being replaced by clear blue skies and bright sunshine last Saturday. The streets of the Victorian-esque seaside town were busy with families who had come to see the impressive panto-themed ice sculptures, dotted around the cliff top and close to the railway station.
As well as the main, frosty attractions - which were cut and created in situ by Sand In Your Eye - a farmer's market stocked treats galore, craft stalls enabled a spot of Christmas shopping, roaming entertainers provided musical interludes, and even Santa himself was on hand to further brighten up the day for visitors young and old.
