Look Who's Back!

At times, it's difficult to keep up with all the comings and going within British politics. Very interesting to see then that Andy Burnham is back on the scene after his overnight victory in the Makerfield by-election.

I've photographed the returning Labour Member of Parliament twice to my knowledge. The first time was on behalf of The Northern Echo back in 2013 when he came to Redcar as shadow health secretary to speak at a public meeting regarding the NHS at the Coatham Memorial Hospital.

The second time was somewhat unexpected at the Deershed 2024 music festival near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. Promoting a book, the then Mayor of Greater Manchester spoke to a packed out tent about his life and his experiences. Politics aside, I always like to hear someone who champions the North.

It will be interesting to see what happens next with Andy Burnham. Will he dethrone Keir Starmer and become the Prime Minister? If not, what will the future hold for him?
