Party in the Park

Flowers, feather, fur, sequins and glitter were on show at this year’s Deer Shed as revellers brought classic festival fashion to the fields. Cowboy hats, tiaras, garlands, capes and even the odd tail were also spotted across the weekend as party goers strutted their sparkly stuff.

And the performers at the annual alfresco extravaganza in Topcliffe, near Thirsk, were just as dazzling.

The sun shone on the opening Friday, which featured the wildly entertaining Oh My God! It’s the Church, returning favourite Joan As Policewoman and much anticipated headliners, Wunderhorse.

Clouds moved in on Saturday but the funky African stylings of Ibibio Sound Machine, smooth swing of Hamish Hawk and fiery, flashy and downright fun Moonchild Sanelly brought the heat - and energy - before Kae Tempest brought things to a rousing close with their blend of spoken word vocals and soaring melodies.

Sunday’s headliners, The Big Moon - another Deer Shed alumni - topped the weekend off with their soothing singalongs. Before them came punkish Teesside duo Benefits, tuneful guitar - and an Ozzy Osbourne tribute - from New York five piece Bodega and nostalgic 90s rockers Idlewild.

As usual the music wasn’t the only entertainment on offer. Crafts, child-friendly DIY, tree climbing, sports - including a new roller disco - wellness workshops, wild swimming, comedy, film and talks from visiting artists made sure visitors of all ages had plenty to do.

All in, Deer Shed 2025 was another sparkling spectacle, with smiles shining as brightly as the sequins on show.
