It was a pleasure to be back on the political circuit earlier this week as the Conservative Party leadership candidates came to Darlington to deliver their manifestos to local supporters. Such events are always an interesting spectacle as the main protagonists are accompanied by security, a heavy police presence, television and print media and protestors representing various causes and issues. Trying to capture all of these elements is no mean feat and to witness such a partisan, passionate audience was fitting of the theatrical setting of the Hipperdrome.
