It's been a quiet time for me work wise lately, possibly due to it being the summer holidays. This lull however, allowed me to go to the Stockton International Riverside Festival last weekend. Several years have passed since I previously attended this fantastic four-day display of street entertainment, having regularly covered it while working for The Northern Echo.

In the age of austerity and local councils having to operate on limited budgets and reduced spending, it's heart-warming to see this annual theatrical gathering still going strong. With top entertainers from across Europe taking centre stage, I hope that Stockton will continue to host the extravaganza for many years to come.
