Great to be back on Northern Echo duty last Saturday although contrary to the majority of the Summer up to now, the weather was far from bright and sunny. This didn't seem to affect the attendances at this year's Durham Brass Festival however and people turned out in their numbers to enjoy the variety of bands and uplifting tunes being played.

A multitude of locations around the historic city provided attractive backgrounds to the dulcet tones of trombones, trumpets and french horns often accompanied by a drum beat, the claps and cheers of the gathered crowd. A more contemporary vibe from the traditional brass band even encouraged a couple to swing dance between the raindrops.

In summary, a fantastic annual event to raise the spirits, refusing to be dampened by the British weather.
