As my trip to Belgium comes to an end, it was a very interesting experience to visit the European Parliament based in Brussels. The European Union has been a major talking point particularly in recent years and to see the location where many important debates and decisions have been made was compelling.
Furthermore, there was no need for a booking, reservation or payment. Just a show of identification before an hour long tour of the main chamber - one of the largest in the world, housing 705 members, and its surrounding rooms and corridors displaying an impressive collection of artwork.
Whatever view you may have on the EU, it was clearly created for the right reasons; promoting human rights, equality and democracy.
